March 22 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on Monday held a phone conversation with Ugur Sahin, founder of the German company BioNTech, which together with Pfizer developed one of the first COVID- vaccines, the government information service said.

Prime Minister Borissov thanked for the hope and the possibility to have back the old way of life. Borissov said that the development of the vaccines is the turning point in the efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic. "Thanks to them we can cope with the pandemic and return our freedom, which the virus took away."

During the conversation Borissov said that Bulgaria has longstanding traditions in the production of drugs and vaccines. He invited Sahin and his team to visit Bulgaria and familiarize themselves with the activity of BulBio (BB-NCIPD). The company which has a 130-year long history and which is owned b the Health Ministry produces over 500 products and is a leader in the production of the tuberculosis vaccine, which it supplies to countries all over the world.

"Bulgaria is ready to provide support and cooperation in the research you are doing," Borissov told Sahin. RI/PP
