site.btaEC Approves Change in Bulgarian Compensation Scheme for Those Affected by Pandemic

March 30 (BTA Correspondent Nikolay Jeliazkov) - The European Commission reported here on Tuesday that it has approved changes to the Bulgarian compensation scheme for those affected by the pandemic.

The measure aims to support the payment of wages to employees in the field of transport, hotels, restaurants and tourism. The temporary measure is excluded from EU state aid rules.

The measure was initially approved by the EC in July last year and was extended until December, 2020. Bulgaria has announced that it is extending the scheme until December of this year, increasing the budget from 40 million leva to 150 million leva and expanding the scope of the measure. NV/DT
