Sofia, July 12 (BTA) - Economist and financial expert Nikolay Vasilev is the There is Such a People party's proposal for prime minister of Bulgaria.

Vasilev holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Management from the University of Economic Sciences of Budapest [now Corvinus University of Budapest], as well as in Business Administration, Finance and Economics from the State University of New York. He is has Master's of Arts in International Economics and Finance from Brandeis University, USA, and has participated in a Master's exchange programme in tax policy, Japanese economy and management at Keio University in Tokyo.

Vasilev is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a member of the Managing Board of CFA Society Bulgaria.

He has lived, studied and worked in Bulgaria, Russia, Hungary, USA, Japan, and the UK.

Vasilev was senior vice president of Lazard Capital Markets in London, associate director and analyst at UBS in the Swiss bank's offices in Tokyo, New York, and London, and tax consultant at Coopers&Lybrand in Budapest.

He was a member of two previous Bulgarian governments where the National Movement of Surge and Stability (formerly, the Simeon II National Movement) of Bulgarian ex-monarch Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha was the main coalition partner: as deputy prime minister and minister of economy from 2001 to 2003, as deputy prime minister and minister of transport and communications from 2003 to 2005, and as minister of state administration and administrative reform from 2005 to 2009.

He is 51 and speaks seven languages.
