site.bta85 Pre-trial Proceedings, 1,159 Case-files Opened on Suspected Violations of Political Rights on Election Day

Sofia, July 12 (BTA) - Eighty-five pre-trial proceedings into
suspected violations of people's political rights were opened in
 connection with the July 11 early parliamentary elections in
Bulgaria, the prosecuting magistracy said on Monday. Some 1,159
case-files were opened on alerts about such breaches made by
members of the public, the Interior Ministry and the State
Agency for National Security.

Steps were undertaken, including searches, questioning of
witnesses, etc., and the evidence thus obtained will be
analysed.

As at mid-afternoon on Monday, charges were pressed on nine
