August 6 (BTA) - There Is Such a People (TISP) and the
Socialists have brought closer their positions on a government
priority declaration proposed by TISP. TISP Prime Minister
designate Plamen Nikolov said they "have come closer"  on almost
all aspects in the declaration they previously disagreed on.

TISP read out its declaration in Parliament on Thursday.

Nikolov said that his party will revise the texts later on
Friday. Asked whether TISP and the Socialists are going to sign
an agreement, which is what the Socialists have wanted
throughout, he said the matter has not been discussed.

The Socialists' deputy floor leader Hristo Prodanov confirmed
the progress in talks between the two formations. "Quote a lot
of the things where we had objections, were taken care of,"  he
said. He promised to disclose more details after TISP are ready
with the revised version of the declaration.

He reiterated that the decision whether or not to support the
proposed TISP government will be made by the party's leadership
body.

Being the largest group in Parliament, TISP was offered a
mandate to form a government by President Rumen Radev. They,
however, only have 65 seats in the 240-seat legislature and need
support from other parties to push through their government
proposal. They have said they expect support from Democratic
Bulgaria, Rise Up BG! and the Bulgarian Socialist Party. The
formerly ruling GERB and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms
are kept out of the talks. RI/LN/
