3,440 New Cases,
Test Positivity Rate Nearly 14%
Sofia, October 16 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 537,752, after 24,730 tests identified 3,440 newly infected persons on Friday, of whom 85.7 per cent are unvaccinated, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 13.9 per cent.
Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 980 positive tests, followed by Plovdiv Region with 267 cases and Varna Region with 263 cases.
The active cases are 58,764. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 5,936, including 509 in intensive care. Of the 740 newly hospitalized patients, 90.8 per cent are unvaccinated.
The infected medical staff reached 15,033, with 44 new cases recorded over the last 24 hours.
Another 1,647 COVID-19 patients recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 456,800.
A total of 86 fatalities were reported, of whom 91.9 per cent were unvaccinated, and the death toll now adds up to 22,188.
With 8,634 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 2,623,783 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 1,382,469 people are fully vaccinated and 7,748 people have received a booster dose.
