Bulgaria Mourns Victims of Explosives Factory Blast
Sofia, October 3 (BTA) - Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte on Friday
officiated a memorial service for 15 workers who died in a blast
at an explosives factory in the village of Gorni Lom,
Northwestern Bulgaria, on Wednesday. Attending the service were
President Rosen Plevneliev, Prime Minister Georgi Bliznashki and
members of the public.
Friday was declared a day of national mourning.
On Friday, the local authorities in Chuprene extended 2,500 leva
to each of the families of the four victims from the
municipality, said Bogomil Stankov, chairman of the municipal
council. He said that an account will be opened which will raise
donations for the families of the 15 victims.
