Two Bulgarians Didn't Board Norman Atlantic as Believed Earlier

Sofia, December 30 (BTA) - Bulgarians Violeta Papareva and
Dimiter Dechev, who were said on Monday to have boarded the
Italian-flagged car ferry "Norman Atlantic", did not actually do
so and are in Greece, the Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

The Italian authorities have officially confirmed that seven
Bulgarians were rescued from the ferry which caught fire in the
Adriatic Sea off the coast of Corfu early on Sunday. One
Bulgarian, Galin Haitov, is in hospital in Brindisi and will
have surgery on his broken arm. Mario Musavitski was discharged
from hospital, and the other five are expected to arrive in
Brindisi on Tuesday aboard a ship.

The Rome-based Bulgarian consul is in Brindisi to provide
assistance if necessary.

There are no passengers named S. Bozhilova and P. Nenova on the
lists released by the Italian authorities, although they were on
the list first published by the Greek Foreign Ministry.

The passenger numbers published by the Italian and the Greek
authorities differ. ANEK Lines, the Greek owner of the ferry
which was hired by an Italian company, puts the number of people
aboard at 475, including 55 crew. The Italian authorities said
there were 458 passengers and 427 people rescued, the rest being
 unaccounted for.
