Ataka Starts Nationwide Campaign against Deployment of NATO Base in Bulgaria

Sofia, January 28 (BTA) - Ataka starts a nationwide campaign
against the deployment of a NATO base in Bulgaria, said the
party's leader Volen Siderov on Wednesday.

The nationalist Ataka MPs said they will submit to Parliament a
draft resolution on not allowing the deployment of NATO units on
Bulgarian territory, adding that if the resolution is adopted,
then the incumbents can easily deny such requests.

Speaking in Parliament, Siderov urged all "alert and honest
Bulgarian citizens" to show that they are united and do not want
Bulgaria to serve as "a US military platform for their
dangerous games" and that they do not want to wage war against
Russia.

The Ataka leader noted that his party's headquarters came across
information in the past few days, according to which a process
of mobilisation is happening in different cities across the
country, i.e. notices are being sent to servicemen from the
reserve force, explaining exactly where they will have to show
up if the need arises. Siderov said that his party has checked
this information and that some military districts have confirmed
it. According to Siderov, this is related to the recent visit
of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. He added that a
similar procedure is ongoing in Ukraine and that there are
already revolts among the Bulgarians living in the region of
Odessa, who were called to be mobilized.

Just days after Jens Stoltenberg's visit, Bulgaria is agreeing
to give NATO a military base and a command centre located at
Bulgaria's easternmost point - Cape Shabla (on the Black Sea),
Siderov said, adding that Crimea will be the target of this
base. "Weapons at the base in Shabla will be pointed at Crimea.
Do you think the Russian side will not respond to these pointed
missiles?" Siderov asked, adding that Bulgaria will become the
target for these heavy weapons, which could literally "erase"
the country.
