Draft Proposals Envisage Setting Retirement Age of 52 Years, Ten
Months
for Military, Police

Sofia, April 17 (BTA) - Draft amendments to the Code of Social
Insurance envisage introducing a retirement age of 52 years and
ten months for military and police. The proposed amendments are
uploaded on the web-portal for public discussion of the Council
of Ministers and were presented to reporters by Labour and
Social Policy Minister Ivailo Kalfin.

The amendments, which will apply to military, police, prison
officers, and the staff of the State Agency for National
Security, are expected to enter into force as of January 1,
2016. The required length of service for retirement is 27 years.
Currently, there is no requirement for age for retirement for
these civil servants who can retire having reached a length of
service of 27 years, 18 of which must be in the law enforcement
system.

Pilots, parachutists, divers and submarine staff will retire at
an age of 42 and ten months.

The draft amendments allow people who by December 31, 2015 have
acquired the requisite length of service for retirement to
retire by December 31, 2018 under the current rules, without a
requirement for age. LY /ZH/
