Food Safety Agency Destroys Blocked Food Additive Containing Banned Substance

Sofia, April 20 (BTA) - The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency has
started the destruction of blocked quantities of the food
additive Tribest which were found to contain a banned substance,
stanozolol, sources from the Agency said.

The stanozolol in the additive was found in doping samples of
all athletes in the Bulgarian national weightlifting team.

Two samples of Tribest were sent to a certified laboratory in
Germany, and the presence of the banned steroid was found in
both of them.

The Food Safety Agency will also delete the Tribest food
additive from the database of allowed food additives. The
producer of the preparation, Tribest Nutrition Bulgaria OOD, was
issued an act for establishment of an administrative violation.
