Bulgarian Parliament Leader Calls for More EU Investment in High Technology

Rome, April 20 (BTA) - Addressing a Conference of Speakers of
European Union Parliaments in Rome, Bulgarian Parliament
Chairwoman Tsetska Tsacheva said that her country has a strong
interest in increased EU investment in high technology,
biofarming and territorial development, the Bulgarian Parliament
reported in a press release on Monday.

Tsacheva believes that this will help curb unemployment,
particularly among young people. She was speaking during a panel
on new paths of growth in Europe after the crisis, which was
the central topic of the conference that sparked a heated
discussion.

Tsacheva called for more attention to the new ways of ensuring
intelligent, sustainable and inclusive growth. She noted that
Bulgaria is actively involved in making and implementing
decisions in the EU. Sustainable growth requires deeper economic
cooperation among the member states, she said.

The EU industrial policy could encourage private businesses to
help implement the priorities of the EU investment programme,
Tsacheva said.

In the sidelines of the conference, Tsacheva met with France's
National Assembly President Claude Bartolone and Germany's
Bundestag President Norbert Lammert.
