Canada Relaxes Visa Regime for Bulgarians

Sofia, April 22 (BTA) - Canada has relaxed significantly its
visa regulations for Bulgarian citizens, the government in Sofia
said in a statement for the press Wednesday. This transpires
from a message by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper to his
Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borissov less than a month after the
Canadian visit of Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior
Minister Roumyana Buchvarova.

Under the latest decision by the Canadian authorities, from 2016
Bulgarians who have had a Canadian visa in the past 10 years as
well as the holders of non-immigrant visas for the United
States, will no longer be required to apply for authorization to
travel to Canada. They will only have to register with the
Electronic Travel Authorization system (eTA).

In his message to Borissov, Harper expresses hope that the new
relaxed regulations will help broaden bilateral relations and
enhance economic contacts.
