Bulgaria's Defence Chief  Visits Republic of Macedonia

Skopje, April 24 (BTA) - As member-state of EU and NATO,
Bulgaria backs Macedonia's aspiration for European and
Euro-Atlantic integration, Bulgarian Chief of Defence, Vice
Admiral Roumen Nikolov said during an official visit to the
Republic of Macedonia, the press centre of the Defence Ministry
said.

Within the three-day visit, held at the invitation of Lietenant
General Gorancho Koteski, Chief of the General Staff of the
Macedonian Army, Nikolov had meetings with Macedonian President
Gjorge Ivanov and Defence Minister Zoran Jolevski. The visit
ends Friday.

Issues, related to the exchange of experience in the
transformation of the defence forces, participation in peace
supporting operations and in crisis response structures and
regional initatives featured on the agenda of the discussions.
The sides mapped out measures to promote cooperation between the
two countries within the spirit of Euro-Atlantic integration.

The Bulgarian delegation visited Ilinden Barrack Region and the
Special Operations Company.

In 2014, within Bulgarian-Macedonian defence cooperation, the
sides held 10 joint activities in the area of social policy,
military police services and sharing of experience in the
auditing and budgeting of financel resources allocated for
defence. Summit-level and expert meetings will be held during
the current year to strengthen further interaction in the above
areas.

The Defence Ministry has readiness to share the Bulgarian
experience in cybersecutiry and hold specialized training for
Macedonian servicemen in Bulgarian military educational
establishments. Every year, Bulgarian cadets of the V. Levski
National Military University participate in the Summer Camp
international project in Macedonia. At the same time, Macedonian
cadets receive training in the V. Levski University.
