Hotel Incident


Varna, on the Black Sea, April 24 (BTA) - The Varna District
Prosecution Office (VDPO) has brought negligent homicide charges
in the case of a collapsed hotel in the Sunny Day resort on
April 8, said VDPO spokesperson Radoslav Lazarov. Four workers
died when the old 10-floor building was being prepared for
demolition.

Charges are brought against the two technical supervisors and
the occupational safety coordinator from the Planeks OOD
contractor, as well as the technical supervisors from the
Bultransport Group OOD, which was subcontracted to carry out the
demolition works. Charges were also brought against the owner
of the Digging OOD company, who was working at the site on the
day of the incident.

According to the prosecuting magistracy, the defendants were
negligent with their duties and have not observed occupational
health and safety rules. They are all released on their own
