EC Transfers Lv 557 Mln under OP Environment  2007-2013

Sofia, May 4 (BTA) - The European Commission has transferred
557,324,468 leva to Bulgaria in reimbursement of certified
expenditures under Operational Programme Environment 2007-2013,
the Environment and Water Ministry said. This instalment brings
the total financing under OP Environment to 1,398,927,665 leva.

In a letter dated November 12, 2014, the European Commission
informed Bulgaria that payments from the EU funds under OP
Environment for the 2007-2013 programming period are restored
(after a year's break). This was the result of restored
confidence and dialogue with the Commission and the corrective
measures taken by the OP's Managing Authority to improve the
management and control systems.

After payments were resumed, Bulgaria received 438,503,954 leva
in six instalments from the EU funds between November 21 and
December 4, 2014.

OP Environment has been regularly reimbursing beneficiaries for
verified expenditures. Between November 2014 and April 28, 2015,
OP Environment paid over 556.5 million leva.
