Cyprus Interested in Cereals Production in Bulgaria
Sofia, May 7 (BTA) - Cyprus has shown interest in cereals
production in Bulgaria, Bulgarian Agriculture and Food Minister
Dessislava Taneva said in Sofia on Thursday, emerging from a
meeting with Cyprus's Agriculture, Natural Resources and
Environment Minister Nicos Kouyialis.
Kouyialis said that Cyprus is totally dependent on imports for
its supply of cereals and fodder, and this is an area in which
his country can cooperate with Bulgaria. He and Taneva are
planning to meet with Bulgarian agricultural organizations on
Friday.
Taneva and Kouyialis discussed the Russian embargo and how it
has damaged the agricultural sector in Bulgaria and Cyprus, and
a six-month extension of permissible expenses under the Rural
Development Programme. The sides will also discuss goat's and
sheep's milk production.
The two ministers expressed their satisfaction with the
partnership existing between Bulgaria and Cyprus and a desire to
expand that partnership.
