259 Individuals Officially Earned More than One Million Leva Each in Personal Income in 2014


Sofia, May 19 (BTA) - A total of 259 natural persons in Bulgaria
have declared to the tax authorities that their respective
personal incomes in 2014 exceeded one million leva (511,000
euro), the National Revenue Agency said on Tuesday, citing tax
return data. Collectively, these people earned 545 million leva
in personal income last year.

The total amount included 226 million leva earned from
employment, 147 million leva from the transfer of rights and
assets and 103 million leva from sole proprietor's business.

The group includes five foreigners who collectively earned 14
million leva, including 10 million leva from the transfer of
rights and assets. All five foreigners are male.

Data about the 10 highest earners show that the people who
earned most money in 2014 were typically male, 49 years old,
based in the capital Sofia and earning an average of 8.7 million
leva each.

Sofia is home to the largest number of millionaire earners, at
129, followed by Varna, 18, and Plovdiv, 16. There is only one
woman among the top 10 nationwide.
