Bulgaria Comes Second in World at International Olympiad in Computational Linguistics

Sofia, July 25 (BTA) - Seven out of the eight Bulgarian
competitors at the 13th International Olympiad in Computational
Linguistics won medals, Musala Soft, which co-organized the
event, said. The Olympiad was held in July 24 to 24, at the
American University in Blagoevgrad, Southwestern Bulgaria, under
 the auspices of President Rosen Plevneliev.

Danail Penev won a gold medal, Valentin Dimov, Ralitsa
Dardjonova and Tina Vladimirova won silver, and Zdravko Ivanov,
Nadezhda Dimitrova and Radina Dobreva won bronze medals.

At the individual competition the eight Bulgarian entrants won a
 total of 394 points, or a score of 49.25 on average, which made
 Bulgaria second in the world after the United States who got an
 average score of 62.

Forty-three teams from 29 countries took part in this year's
edition of the Olympiad in Computational Linguistics.
