Bulgarian Defence Ministry Dismisses Reports about US Heavy Military Equipment in Bulgaria

Sofia, July 27 (BTA) - The Bulgarian Defence Ministry announced
on Monday that currently there no US heavy military equipment is
 deployed on Bulgarian territory. The Ministry reacted to media
reports about US military equipment from the Novo Selo firing
range deployed in the town of Soungourlare, Bourgas Region.

The Ministry says that US troops are participating in
Humanitarian Assistance Programme projects under the 2015 plan
for joint Bulgarian-US military training and exercises.

Ten servicemen from the 212th engineer company of the Tennessee
Army National Guard are doing repairworks to a kindergarten
playground in Soungourlare between July 19 and 30. The US troops
 are travelling between the Novo Selo firing range and the
kindergarten in Hummer vehicles. The project is humanitarian and
 envisages also repair works to the kindergartens in the village
 of Karanovo, Aitos Region and the town of Veliko Turnovo. The
projects are financed by the US Armed Forces, the press release
states.
