Government Adopts 2015 National Programme for Prevention of Human Trafficking, Victim Protection
Sofia, August 5 (BTA) - Targeted information campaigns and
improving personnel capacity are among the measures against
labour exploitation, set out in a national programme for human
trafficking prevention and victim protection. It was adopted on
Wednesday by the Council of Ministers, the government
information service said.
It envisages new activities for prevention of human trafficking
for the aims of labour exploitation and trafficking risks
prevention among vulnerable groups.
This year's priorities include reopening of the centres for
temporary accommodation with the National Commission for
Combatting Trafficking in Human Beings and introducing basic
standards for their activities. The programme also features
training of police officers, magistrates, diplomats and social
workers for identifying victims of human trafficking. The
programme envisages launching a telephone line for victims of
human trafficking, and developing a network of volunteers with
the local commissions for combatting human trafficking through
training. For the first time information sessions and experience
exchange are planned for officials of the State Agency for
Refugees for initial identification of victims of human
trafficking among asylum seekers.
Owing to a joint initiative with Portugal's Observatory on
Trafficking in Human Beings a new system for collection,
processing and analysis of data and for monitoring of tendencies
in human trafficking will be put in place.
