Bulgaria to Export Poultry Meat, Goose Liver to  Japan

Sofia, October 13 (BTA) - Japan has approved a procedure for
import of Bulgarian poultry meat and goose liver, meaning that
these Bulgarian products already have access to the local
market, Deputy Economy Minister Lyuben Petrov said at the
opening of a Bulgarian-Japanese business forum. It was attended
by representatives of more than 50 companies and was held as
part of a project financed under Operational Programme
Development of the Competitiveness of the Bulgarian Economy.

Petrov added that a procedure leading to a permission for
Bulgarian pork export to Japan was under way. This will allow
many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to find partners
in that country. Petrov called on the Japanese companies to view
Bulgaria as a gateway to the whole of Europe, and explained
that businesses can enter state-owned and private industrial
zones in Bulgaria.

Koichi Kishi, President of the Japan-Bulgaria Parliamentary
Friendship Association, said at the forum that Japan has 35
million SMEs, most of which are seeking opportunities to enter
new markets.

Marieta Zaharieva, Executive Director of the Bulgarian Small and
Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency, met with Atsushi Toyonaga,
General Manager of the SME Unit of the Japan Finance
Corporation.
