36 Illegal Immigrants Detained in Sofia in 24 Hours

Sofia, October 17 (BTA) - Thirty-six illegal immigrants were arrested in Sofia over the last 24 hours, the Interior Ministry reported on Saturday.

Twenty-nine of them were detected in a van near the suburb of Bankya. They said they are from Afghanistan and Syria. The 34-year-old driver of the van was also detained. The other seven immigrants were apprehended in central Sofia. All of them had no IDs on them.

The authorities will try to uncover their identity and take further action.
