Bulgarian Military Help Distressed Turkish Ship

Sofia, October 17 (BTA) - A Turkish ship with a 14-member crew on board got into distress 70 nautical miles off the Bulgarian Black Sea port of Varna, the Bulgarian Defence Ministry reported on Saturday.

Defence Minister Nikolay Nenchev ordered Bulgarian Naval and Air Force units to join the operation of surveying, searching and possibly rescuing the distressed sailors. The Navy sent a Panther helicopter and the Air Force dispatched a Cougar helicopter. The Bulgarian servicepersons are providing all kinds of assistance.

The Turkish ship crew is out of danger, the Bulgarian Defence Ministry said.
