Reformist Bloc Insists on Declassifying of Venice Commission Report on Constitutional Changes

Sofia, October 18 (BTA) - Dimiter Delchev of the Reformist Bloc (RB) submitted a written request to the National Assembly Chairperson for declassifying the Venice Commission report on the changes to Bulgaria's Constitution, the press centre of the Bulgaria for the Citizens Movement (one of the parties within RB) said.

Earlier in October the Council of Europe Venice Commission sent a position on the efforts of the Bulgarian authorities for reforming the judicial system.

At present, only MPs have access to the report. There is a keen public interest in the document and it pertains to serious public problems. If the public is not familiar with the text, the opinion of the international partners cannot be taken into account in the discussion on the changes, Delchev explained. The public should get acquainted with the original report rather than being based on interpretations, which have already emerged in the media, he added.
