Prosecuting Magistracy Says No Violence  Was Committed against Illegal MigrantsDetained in Sredets

Sofia, October 19 (BTA) - The Bourgas, on the Black Sea, Regional Prosecuting Office said on Monday that no data or evidence exist about the presence of pictures or videos depicting violence, on the mobile phones of the illegal migrants detained in the Southeastern town of Sredets on October 15. An Afghani migrant was killed by a ricocheting bullet fired in the air by a border police officer when a group of 54 illegal migrants who had crossed over illegally from Turkey were apprehended on Thursday night some 30 km from the border.

Three inspections of the scene of the accident have been conducted. The police officer who fired the warning shots, Vulkan Harmbarliev, has been questioned as witness, as were two other police officers who were present. Forty-seven aliens were questioned as witnesses.

Several examinations have been ordered: a forensic examination, a ballistic examination, a technical examination and two physico-chemical examinations, which are still ongoing.
