In his remarks following the announcement of the government, Petkov said that its motto will be "Zero tolerance for corruption and full transparency".

"Our ambition is to run Bulgaria for a period of four years," he said.

He explained that every minister is bringing their own team and will be free to appoint their deputies. The sectoral committees in Parliament will be headed by a representative of a party which is different from the one that nominated the respective minister.

Asked to comment how the declared intention to cutdown the administration matches the increased number of ministries, Petkov said that there will be more ministries but their staff will not get bigger. He added that the ministries will be largely manned with the existing personnel.  "Our idea is to reduce the administrative  burden for businesses and people, and we are not going to increase the number of administrative staff. The reason why there are more ministries is that we want to improve the efficiency of the government," the Prime Minister-designate said.

Asked to comment the future government's policy to the Republic of North Macedonia, he said that the Bulgarian position "remains as is but what we want to do is make progress". "We donÒt want to carry on with the slogans on both sides of the border. We want to sit down together, work in teams in the various sectors and make sure that we move to goodneighbourliness through joint work and good communication," Petkov said adding that they will make sure to stand up for the Bulgarian interests.
