Turkey's Chief Public Prosecutor Akarca Discuss Refugee Crisis, Terrorist Threats with Bulgarian Politicians

Sofia, April 12 (BTA) - Turkey's Chief Public Prosecutor at the Supreme Court of Cassation Mehmet Akarca, who is paying an official two-day visit to Bulgaria, discussed here on Tuesday the refugee crisis, the terrorist threats and the fight against organized crime with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Roumyana Buchvarova.

Borissov and Mehmet Akarca agreed that joint efforts between the countries are the only effective means to counter terrorist threats. The Prime Minister stressed the huge efforts Bulgaria is making to counter the refugee flow and human trafficking, noting that there is a need to deepen cooperation between partnering services as part of the measures against terrorism and the migration flow, Cabinet's press service reported.

"Migrant smuggling is a well-organized provocation against the rule of law in our countries," said Buchvarova during her meeting with Akarca, the Interior Ministry reported in a press release. According to the Bulgarian Interior Minister, more active cooperation and information exchange are needed for the effective sanctioning of those organizing human trafficking networks.

Cooperation on the exchange along the whole chain of human trafficking networks is needed, Buchvarova said, adding that this is of key significance for regulating migrant flows, countering human trafficking and terrorism.

A readmission protocol is to be signed between Bulgaria and Turkey, which Buchvarova noted as an important step for the effective regulation of migration processes. The two discussed the trilateral contact centre for police and customs cooperation between Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece as an important format for cooperation between the three countries' services.

Buchvarova expressed condolences to the victims of the recent terrorist attacks in Turkey.

The Turkish State is leading a very decisive fight against the terrorists, who are committing crimes against humanity, Mehmet Akarca said. He added that his country needs Bulgaria's and all countries' cooperation.
