Parliament Elects Zornitsa Roussinova as Minister of Labour and Social Policy

Sofia, May 18 (BTA) - The National Assembly elected Zornitsa Roussinova as Minister of Labour and Social Policy after the resignation of Ivailo Kalfin from this post.

Of all 211 MPs, who took part in the vote, 135 voted in favour, 68 against and eight national representatives abstained. Roussinova was supported by MPs from GERB, the Reformist Bloc (RB), the Patriotic Front (PF), ABV and the Bulgarian Democratic Centre. BSP-Left Bulgaria, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) and Ataka were against. Eight MPs of the Reformist Bloc abstained during the vote.

Parliament also approved structural changes in the Government which envisage reducing the number of deputy prime ministers from four to three. The MPs also voted on Kalfin's withdrawal as national representative.

Prior to the vote, Zornitsa Roussinova said that, for her, the social policy is based on three principles: dialogue, activity and commitment. She thanked her predecessor for the reforms, which have been launched during his term in office.
