SEECP Parliamentarians Call for Joint Efforts with EU for Stability, Democracy, Prosperity and Rule of Law

Sofia, June 11 (BTA) - The Parliamentary Assembly of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) and the EU should join efforts for a more active communication for the implementation of reforms that would guarantee stability, democracy, rule of law, prosperity and goodneighbourly relations, reads a closing declaration adopted at the end of the SEECP Parliamentary Assembly's 3rd Plenary Session here on Saturday, the National Assembly said in a press release.

The SEECP parliamentarians call on EU institutions to work jointly for the handling of the migration pressure in Europe through stronger regional dialogue and cooperation with full affiliation of the most affected countries in the region to the efforts for finding an acceptable common solution.

The closing declaration also calls on the parliaments of the SEECP countries to work actively for the development of the SEECP Parliamentary Assembly as a wide platform for parliamentarian cooperation promoting the formulation and implementation of policies concerning the EU based on good practices. The document reads that there is a need of regular exchange of information and opinions between these parliaments on current topics on the international political agenda, and elaboration and publishing of common positions of the Parliamentary Assembly.

All countries in Southeastern Europe agree on the understanding that the region's infrastructural and energy connectivity are of particular importance for its economic growth.

Attending the 3rd Plenary Session of the SEECP Parliamentary Assembly were parliamentarians from 12 countries. Speeches were given by parliamentarians from Tirana, Zagreb, Ankara, Athens, Bucharest, Chisinau, Ljubljana, Podgorica, Pristina, Skopje and Sarajevo, among others.
