Bulgarian Math School Students Win Six Medals at Balkan Math Olympiad in Romania

Sofia, June 28 (BTA) - Six Bulgarian students won medals at the 20th Balkan Youth Olympiad which was held in Romania. Teams from 19 countries took part in the competition where the Bulgarians won one gold, three silver and two bronze medals, the Bulgarian Science and Education Ministry said.

Eighth-grader in the Sofia Math School Evgeni Kairyakov won gold. Fellow eighth-grader from the Life Sciences and Math School in Bourgas, on the Black Sea, Victor Baltin, seventh-grader from the Sofia Math School Do Viet Kyong, and eighth-grader from the same school Ivo Petrov won silver medals. Kristian Mirchev from the Life Sciences and Math School in Bourgas and Svtelin Lalov from the Sofia Math School won bronze medals.

The Bulgarian team is schooled by Prof. Sava Grozdev and Irina Sharkova.
