About 80 Per Cent of Jobless Registered in Labour Offices Find Work in Private Companies

Sofia, November 1 (BTA) - About 80 per cent of the jobless people registered in Labour Offices find work in private companies thanks to the Labour Office mediation, Labour and Social Policy Minister Zornitsa Roussinova told reporters on Tuesday, after opening a new Labour Office in Sofia's Lyulin housing estate.

Roussinova said that the downward trend in unemployment in the two summer months is an indication of stronger economic activity. More than 23,000 vacancies are available now nationwide. Roussinova noted that there has been an extremely stable decrease in unemployment for the first time in the past eleven years. She recalled that according to official statistics the unemployment rate now is 7.7 per cent, against 8.2 per cent on average in the EU.

The Minister said that the incentives for geographic mobility of the people looking for work approved recently are expected to achieve even better results next year. Roussinova said that Bulgaria currently experiences mostly economic mobility, i.e., people relocating from small towns to bigger cities. Under the new incentives, people who find work more than 50 km away from their place of residence will be entitled to 200 leva monthly in support of rent, Internet access and children's kindergarten fees.
