The Greens Will Seek Allies among Like-minded Formations for Early Elections

Sofia, January 5 (BTA) - The Greens party will seek a broader coalition for the upcoming early election with formations promoting values similar to theirs, leader Vladislav Panev told a news conference here on Thursday.

The Greens approve of the new party, founded by former justice minister Hristo Ivanov, as they hold similar views about the judicial reform.

The Greens will prioritize longterm programmes as far-reaching changes cannot be accomplished in a single term and require 10 to 15 years.

The Greens co-leader Zaritsa Georgieva said that they will continue to work for clean nature and clean politics. They will lobby for the purchase of more mobile stations which can measure fine particles with a diameter of less than 2.5 microns, as the existing equipment cannot detect particles which are less than 10 microns in diameter.

They will work against the project for the construction of a waste burning installation at Sofia heating utility, according to Georgieva.

Another aim of the party is to dispel the stigma that the environment and economy contradict each other opposed. They will prioritize a move towards renewable energy sources. "We'll be concentrating on the sustainable and responsible development of agriculture and tourism," said Georgieva.
