site.btaPresident, FM Go to New York for 72nd UN General Assembly Session

Sofia, September 17 (BTA) - President Rumen Radev will make a working visit to the US on September 18-24 and will represent Bulgaria at the 72nd Regular Session of the UN General Assembly, his press secretariat said.

On September 18, Radev will participate in the annual Tribute to the Heroes of the Global Campaign Against Extremism and Intolerance and will deliver an address. He will talk with US Jewish organizations.

On September 19, the President will participate in the opening of the General Debate of the 72nd Regular Session and will hold bilateral meetings with counterparts.

On September 20, Radev will address the General Assembly at around 7 pm Bulgarian time. He will attend the Bloomberg Global Business Forum and will meet with World Bank President Jim Yong Kim and more of his opposite numbers. Later in the day Radev will participate in a conference on countering the use of the Internet for terrorist purposes.

On September 21, the Bulgarian head of State will hold a working meeting with US business representatives, organized by the Business Council for International Understanding, and will familiarize them with his country's investment opportunities.

On September 22, Radev will meet with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. Later in the day he will visit the Bulgarian Church in New York and will meet with representatives of the Bulgarian community.

On September 23 and 24, Radev will visit Chicago to meet with the local Bulgarian community.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva will be on Radev's delegation. During the UN General Assembly Session, between September 18 and 22, she will participate in several multilateral formats which will discuss a wide range of issues, including international peace and security, the combating and prevention of terrorism and violent extremism, and human trafficking, the Foreign Ministry said.

Zaharieva will hold more than 10 bilateral meetings with counterparts from Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, Latin America and Europe.
