site.btaJustice Minister Tsacheva, MEPs Discuss Bulgaria's Forthcoming Presidency of EU Council

Brussels/Sofia, November 28 (BTA) - Visiting Brussels for two days, Bulgarian Justice Minister Tsetska Tsacheva is having a series of working meetings with MEPs of of the Legal Affairs and Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs committees of the European Parliament, Tsacheva's ministry said Tuesday. The meetings are part of Tsacheva's regular contacts with MEP from all political groups in the European Parliament as Bulgaria prepares to assume the EU Presidency in the first half of 2018.

The talks in the Belgian capital will focus on Bulgaria's plans for the talks at the Council and the trilateral talks of the Council, the European Parliament and the European Commission, as well as the objectives which are expected to be achieved on basic legislative proposals within the competence of the two committees.

At the very beginning of Bulgaria's Presidency in January 2018, Tsacheva will present this country's goals in the field of justice before these EP committees and will discuss with them the work on all case-files in the field.

The Justice Minister is also scheduled to meet with Bulgarian MEPs before whom she will reiterate the need of close cooperation in the process of negotiations between the EC, the Council of the European Union and Parliament. This is particularly relevant to case-files concerning money laundering, mutual recognition of confiscation decisions, exchange of information of liability registers, rules concerning agreements with digital content, and protection of copyright, which will be in the centre of the EU legislative process until the end of 2018.
