European Music Festival 2018
Will Star Violin Virtuoso
Maxim Vengerov

Sofia, February 21 (BTA) - Russian-born Israeli violin virtuoso Maxim Vengerov will be the star of this year's European Music Festival, organized by Cantus Firmus.

The Festival's grand opening will be on March 30 and will feature a concert by Vengerov, who will perform Brahms' Violin Concerto in D Major and Symphony No. 1 together with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Conductor Nayden Todorov, the organizers said. The concert will be held at Sofia's National Palace of Culture and is among the highlights of Sofia's cultural programme during the Bulgarian EU Presidency.

The European Music Festival 2018 is included in Sofia Municipality's calendar of cultural events for this year and is co-organized by the Ministry of Culture. It will feature 13 events with the participation of over 350 musicians from various countries, including Italy, Spain, Austria, USA and Russia.

The Bulgarian audience still rembers his 2006 appearance in Bulgaria and his concert in March is expected to enjoy huge interest. LI/MY /МЙ/
