Sofia, March 16 (BTA) - Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov conferred here on Friday with the Commissioner General of the Belgian Federal Police Catherine De Bolle, who will take office as Executive Director of Europol on May 1, 2018, the Government Information Service said.

The two commended highly the successful joint counter-terrorism operations of Bulgarian and Belgian police. "I believe that the two countries' services will carry on their fine cooperation after you head Europol," Borissov said. He noted that Bulgaria and Belgium also collaborate actively on issues related to human trafficking, forged documents, public order protection, child crime, travelling crime groups, etc.

The PM assured his guest that Bulgaria will continue to strengthen its cooperation with Europol. "The EU law enforcement agency has always been our country's reliable partner in combating migration pressure, cigarette contraband and abuse of means of payment," Borissov emphasized.
