site.btaTobacco Growers Receive over Lv 84.4 Mln for 2017 Campaign

Sofia, April 24 (BTA) - State Fund Agriculture has transferred 84,471,000 leva of subsidies to 41,323 farmers under the scheme for transitional national aid for tobacco not related to production, the Fund said Tuesday. The subsidy has been paid in full for the 2017 campaign to producers growing Kabakulak, Burley, Virginia and Basmi varieties during the 2007- 2009 reference period.

The assistance under the transitional national aid schemes is carried out in accordance with the provisions of Ordinance 3 on the terms and procedure for the implementation of the direct payment schemes. The right to support under the tobacco scheme is granted to farmers who have grown tobacco in any year within the 2007-2009 reference period. Their produce should have been purchased and boned in accordance with the Tobacco and Tobacco Products Act.

The size of the payment for transitional national non-production tobacco aid is determined by an order of the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry issued on April 17, 2018.
