Sofia, May 2 (BTA) - Talking with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on the telephone, Sir Suma Chakrabarti, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), briefed him on the bank's projects for the Western Balkans, the government information service said. Chakrabarti called Borissov to inform him that he would present specific projects for connectivity and infrastructure at the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Sofia on May 17.

The EBRD President said that making the Western Balkans a priority of the Bulgarian EU Presidency and organizing the summit came at a decisive time for the region. He assured Borissov that the EBRD would fully back his efforts for the Balkans' development.

In recent years the bank has focused much of its activity on that region and has organized quite a few investment forums in its support, said Chakrabarti.

The two agreed they would discuss opportunities for cooperation with the bank with the leaders of the Western Balkans countries at the Sofia Summit.
