Elin Pelin, Western Bulgaria, August 7 (BTA) - Interior Minister Valentin Radev on Tuesday denied that a leak of information from the police caused Dimiter 'the Eyes' Zhelyazkov to leave the country before the operation against an extortion ring, allegedly led by him.

Interior Ministry Chief Secretary Mladen Marinov said that Zhelyazkov has been detained for 30 days in a Turkish jail pending his extradition procedure.

Radev was in the western town of Elin Pelin to meet with the local police leadership and mayors. RQ/PP
