PM Unhappy with Work of Commercial
Register's Director,
Threatens Shakeup

Sofia, August 16 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov is dissatisfied with the performance of Zornitsa Daskalova, the Executive Director of the Registry Agency, whose Commercial Register has been out of order for a week due to a computer glitch. The government press service quoted Borissov as warning of "changes" in the Registry Agency. The Prime Minister spoke to journalists in the northeastern town of Shoumen.

The opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party had already demanded the resignation of Daskalova and of Justice Minister Tsetska Tsacheva, who is directly in charge of the Registry Agency.

Daskalova dismissed the possibility, saying that her resignation has not been discussed.

She promised that all functions of the Commercial Register will be restored next week following a partial recovery on August 15.

Prime Minister Borissov commented: "I am not satisfied with the chief of the Commercial Register. We should wait until the emergency is over, until they finish their job, and four or five days from now we will make changes there. Quite a lot of money and investment has been poured into it. Those who were supposed to take care of these things, I will hold them responsible, but you can't touch anything during an emergency."

Borissov is confident that information cannot be lost from the Commercial Register.

Daskalova, too, denied the possibility of information loss or misuse. LN/VE
