site.bta28,603 Violations Registered in Latest Speed Enforcement Operation

August 16 (BTA) - A total of 28,5603 violations have been
 registered across the country during the latest speed
enforcement operation between August 6 and 12, said the Interior
 Ministry on Thursday. The campaign is organized by the European
 Traffic Police Network (TISPOL).

The largest number of violations were recorded in Veliko Turnovo
 (2,171) and Blagoevgrad (1,831), said Chief Inspector Rossen
Rapchev of the Traffic Police.

A similar operation took place in April when 26,325 speeding
violations were recorded. According to Rapchev, the increase in
violations is due to tightened control and the lack of driver
discipline.

TISPOL schedules two anti-speeding campaigns every year in April
 and August. In 2017 during summer checks on the territory of
the European Union a total of 660,000 speeding violations were
recorded, with 19,000 of these in Bulgaria. LN/PP
