Officials of Chinese National Energy
Administration Visit Belene
N-plant Site

Sofia, August 28 (BTA) - Officials of China's National Energy Administration (NEA) visited Tuesday the site of the Belene N-plant project to see the equipment that has been supplied, said the Energy Ministry. The delegation, which is on a working visit here, includes representatives of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), the China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) and the State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC).

The visit is one of the first initiatives implementing a Memorandum of Understanding on Peaceful Use of Atomic Energy, which was signed in early July between the Bulgarian Energy Ministry and China's NEA during the Bulgaria visit of Chinese Premiere Li Keqiang.

The Chinese officials were shown how the Belene equipment is being stored. The Belene site is 250 ha and all working premises have been built, as well as the necessary roads, rail line, port and a concrete batching plant. What remains to be built is the reactor and turbine rooms, the Economy Ministry said. LN/LY
