Sofia, October 19 (BTA) - Minister for the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union Liliyana Pavlova and Romanian Minister delegate for European Affairs Victor Negrescu discussed on Friday key topics on the agenda of the EU, Pavlova's Ministry said in a press release.

"We discussed the proposal for the EU budget after 2020, migration, and the European perspective for the Western Balkan countries," said Pavlova. She added that as negotiations are underway on the next financial framework, now is the time to discuss the development of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, as well as an increase in investments there.

The two ministers concurred that the Western Balkans will continue to be a priority topic during the Romanian Presidency in order to improve on the progress Bulgaria has made so far. At the moment, Romania is in the last phase of its preparation to take over the rotating Presidency of the Council of the EU on January 1, 2019.

Negrescu is in Bulgaria to participate in the last event under the Bulgarian Presidency, which is the 7th EUSDR Annual Forum.
