Sofia, October 28 (BTA) - The owners of Polymeri AD, Nikolai Banev and his wife Evgenia Baneva, have been charged with misappropriation and tax evasion during the 2010-2011 period, supervising prosecutor Maria Doycheva told a briefing here on Sunday. The misappropriated property amounts to over 1.5 million leva, and the total amount of damages to the Exchequer exceed 500,000 leva, she specified, adding that the charges do not include apportionments.

Deputy Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev commented that this case will illustrate what he called "bandit privatization". The legal proceedings' starting point is the privatized Polimeri factory and its siphoning, he said.
