Sofia, November 2 (BTA) - On Saturday, Archangel's All Souls Day, Bulgaria commemorated its fallen soldiers with memorial services across the country.

In Sofia, President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Rumen Radev Radev commemorated and paid homage to Bulgarian soldiers who died in the wars for national unification, during peace-keeping operations and in the line of duty, the President's press secretariat reported.

Radev attended a memorial service conducted by Bishop Polycarp of Belogradchik in front of the Military Mausoleum-Ossuary at the Central Sofia Cemetery. The head of State laid a wreath at the memorial to the fallen servicemen.

The memorial service was also attended by Defence Minister Krassimir Karakachanov, Defence Chief Andrey Botsev, the commanders of the armed forces, senior officers, members of military patriotic unions and the families of servicemen who died in the line of duty.

Units of the Land Forces, the Navy, the Air Force and the Special Forces Brigade took part in memorial services in Assenovgrad, Bourgas, Varna, Karlovo, Plovdiv and Pleven, said the Ministry of Defence.

Observances were held to honour fallen Bulgarian soldiers at the Cerna River Bend and at the Bulgarian military cemetery in the Republic of North Macedonia. Attending the services was a Defence Ministry delegation, led by Deputy Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov and members of military patriotic groups, the Defence Ministry reported. DS/PP
