Sofia, November 17 (BTA) - The Constitutional Court has revoked
a legal provision allowing the authorities to monitor the mobile
phones of people who violate the mandatory quarantine for
COVID-19. The decision was made on 10 votes in the 12-judge
Constitutional Court.
Two judges, Pavlina Panova and Anastas Anastassov, dissented.
Revisions in the Electronic Communications Act required mobile
phone operators to keep the traffic data for six months so that
the authorities can use them to monitor the compliance with
mandatory COVID quarantine.
The revisions were referred to the Constitutional Court by the
opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party. RI/LN
