site.btaPrime Minister: Government Increased by Lv 6.6 Bln Expenses for Pensions and Salaries During Its Tenure

February 13 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said that the government has increased by over 6.6 billion leva expenses for pensions and salaries compared with 2017. Borissov, quoted by the government information service, was visiting Yambol in southern Bulgaria.

Finance Minister Kiril Ananiev, who was accompanying the Prime Minister, said that between 2017 and 2021 the budget allocation for pensions totals 52 billion leva. This year the nominal increase is 3.366 billion leva, or up by 37.23 per cent.

During the cabinet's tenure the budget allocation for wages of public servants including teachers, police officers and doctors, reached over 33 billion leva. The increase this year is 3.252 billion leva, or up by 61.66 per cent.

In Yambol the Prime Minister inspected the local waste water treatment plant, which is set to be completed in the next few months. The project worth nearly 29 million leva
is implemented largely with EU funds. The treatment plant is built during the first phase of a large-scale integrated project for the water cycle of the city under the Operational Programme Environment and is worth nearly 45 million leva.

At the end of 2020, the government allocated 7.3 million leva for the repairs and reconstruction of streets, pavements and the renovation of a sports hall in Yambol. RI/PP
