Brussels, February 17 (BTA) - In January 2021, the EU passenger car market posted an accelerated decline, as coronavirus-related restrictions continued to weigh heavily on sales across the Union, the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) said Wednesday. Compared to January 2020, new car registrations decreased by 24.0 per cent to 726,491 units in the EU and by 24.1 per cent to 1,769 units in Bulgaria.

This marks the lowest January total in the EU on record to date, the ACEA specifies.

Spain was hit the hardest (minus 51.5 per cent), followed by Germany (minus 31.1 per cent) and Italy (minus 14.0 per cent), while France was the best performing major market (minus 5.8 per cent).
