Sofia, October 9 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 518,995, after 21,775 tests identified 2,485 new infections on Friday, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 11.41 per cent.

Sofia tops the list of new cases with 589 positive tests, followed by Varna with 231 cases and Plovdiv with 220.

The active cases are 49,828. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 5,453, including 462 in intensive care.

Another 1,928 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 447,581.

Eighty-one fatalities were reported, and the death toll now adds up to 21,586.

With 7,210 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 2,585,160 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 1,359,501 people are fully vaccinated, and 4,423 have received a booster jab.
